Birth registration for children born abroad and have citizenship Vietnam is the process of registering the birth of a child who was born outside of Vietnam but is a Vietnamese citizen.     • A completed birth registration form.
    • A letter from the local police station confirming the child’s residence in Vietnam.

Once the parents have submitted all of the required documents, the embassy or consulate or People’s Committee will process the birth registration request. If the request is approved, the child will be issued a Vietnamese birth certificate.

  • The birth registration process can take several weeks or even months, so it is important to start the process as soon as possible.
  • There may be a fee associated with birth registration.
